Our Local Offer

At Buzzee Beez Pre-School, we are committed to ensuring that every child feels welcomed, included and supported. We recognise that every child is unique and that some children may need additional or different support to help them thrive.

Identifying Additional Needs

Before a child starts with us, we gather information from parents through our All About Me, home visits and settling-in process. Once children begin, their key person gets to know them through everyday interactions, observations and assessments.

We also use WellComm screening, developmental reviews and the statutory two-year progress check where appropriate. If we identify an area where a child may benefit from additional support, we discuss this sensitively with parents and agree the next steps together.

Parents are encouraged to speak to us at any time if they have concerns about their child's development, communication, behaviour or wellbeing.

How We Support Children with neurodivergent needs

Our SENCO, management team and key people work together to ensure children receive support tailored to their individual needs.

Support may include:

  • Individual targets and One Plans

  • Visual timetables, picture prompts and Makaton

  • WellComm speech and language interventions

  • Sensory resources and calm spaces

  • Small-group and one-to-one activities

  • Adaptations to activities, routines and the environment

  • Support with communication, emotional regulation and independence

Children's progress is regularly reviewed, and strategies are adapted as their needs develop.

Working With Families & Professionals

Parents are an essential part of the process. We share information through Tapestry, daily conversations, meetings and reviews and work together to decide the best ways to support each child.

With parental consent, we can also work alongside professionals and services including Area SENCOs, health visitors, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, specialist teachers, educational professionals and family support services.

Where appropriate, meetings are held so that everyone involved with the child can work together towards shared outcomes.

Wellbeing & Inclusion

Children's emotional wellbeing is just as important as their learning and development. We provide nurturing relationships, predictable routines and opportunities for children to express themselves in ways that work for them.

Our team receives ongoing training in areas including SEND, autism awareness, safeguarding, communication, behaviour and emotional wellbeing, alongside their individual continuing professional development (CPD).

We have designated SEND and equality leadership within the setting and regularly review our practice to ensure it remains inclusive.

An Accessible Environment - We aim to make reasonable adjustments so that every child can participate fully in preschool life.

Our environment includes visual supports, accessible furniture and toileting equipment, sensory resources and visual timetables. We also adapt activities and communication methods according to children's individual needs.

Where families speak English as an additional language, we will work with them to find appropriate ways of making information and communication accessible.

Starting Preschool & Moving on to School

Transitions are carefully planned, particularly for children with SEND.

When children join Buzzee Beez, we gather information from families, offer settling opportunities and allocate a key person to help build a secure relationship.

When it is time to move on to school, we work closely with families and receiving schools. This may include teacher visits, additional transition sessions, transition books, photographs and sharing relevant SEND information and support strategies.

Our aim is to make every transition as familiar, positive and reassuring as possible.

Working Together

We believe the best outcomes are achieved when children, families, preschool staff and other professionals work together.

If you have any concerns about your child's development or would like to discuss the SEND support available at Buzzee Beez, please speak to our Manager or SENCO. We are always happy to talk with you.
